Re: 67 Marker test results
As David's test sponsor I am hoping to have you, Andrew and the Baron take a look at the matches if that is ok and get some feedback from the three of you how the matches connection to David's families published history. I am struggling to make a connection with the matches so far with the known hi...

Re: New Livingstone Australia Tartan
I will take a look at that albanach tartan site you mentioned tonight after supper. It looks to be quite an interesting and extensive site for anyone with an interest in tartans and clans. Did you notice that North Carolina Tartan Museum site I think I contacted them once looking for information. L...

Re: Sub-Fora and Discussion Areas
I suspect you have had little experience working with pine sap. Alas, you were right. I'm still getting it off my hands. Most importantly I was concerned you might take a wrong turn and end up stuck in the Grand Canyon or something like that and that is one hell of a climb to the top and quite a wa...

Re: New Livingstone Australia Tartan
One sees the plethora of new tartans and can sometimes lose the forest for the trees. I think this is a good reinforcement of the united identity of the clan that we are all trying to preserve. Let us be united!D.W.Livingston wrote:I truly felt an awe when I read "unite the clan". I am all for that.

Re: Peter Parker
I will put all this back in the file until.... Getting an opinion of a firm Livingston connection has been exciting and very welcome. I had speculated but until the DNA group tied Jerome to others, it was just my guess. The fact that you managed to get a clue WITHOUT the DNA evidence is more eviden...

Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research
My uncle David Livingstone is only 12yrs older than me and I think he would be a good DNA candidate i.e for comparing with Dr Livingstone given his father Edward was born over 100yrs ago. Hope you can help fill the 120yr gap I have in my research and that my info helps others. Best wishes, Amanda. ...

Re: New Livingstone Australia Tartan
Tartan is a bit like a football strip. It is supposed to unite and a proliferation of tartans is noxious. The Macleas of Achnacree, or Lindsaig would wear the same tartan as their chief. Now, there was a falling out between Maclaine of Lochbuie and Maclean of Duart and they have different tartans. ...

Re: New Livingstone Australia Tartan
There is a convention that used to be followed by The Scottish Tartan Society, that when a minor change to a trtan was suggested it had to be approved by the chief. Now that faceless and unaccountable civil servants are in charge it seems that this courtesy has been swept aside. Bachuil, I didn't k...

Re: New Livingstone Australia Tartan
I would have liked to have asked Baron Alastair Livingstone if he had learned from his family, Uncles, cousins etc. the origins of the current tartan 1003 worn by the clan. Since the current Chief doesn't seem to know, it seems unlikely the old Chief would have either. Especially considering he bec...
