Re: Clan References in The Stewarts of Appin by John H.J.Stewart

Remember this was written by a Stewart and has many errors. Don't forget the evidence: Appin means the Abbey Lands!! We were and still are the hereditary abbots.

Re: Aharacle - Acharacle

On modern maps you will find it spelt Acharacle.

A friend of mine has the estate on the river Shiel. It is a very pretty spot with a salmon river running down to the Loch with Tioram Castle nestling in the bay. http://www.moidart.org.uk/datasets/tioram.htm

Re: Duncan Livingstone of Scioto County, Ohio

There is a very striking Livingstone feature in that picture which stands out a mile when you know what to look for. It is hard to describe but is a kind of receding hairline at the temple.

Re: Connection between Kilmodan Mcleas and Craignish Livingstons

In the McLea manuscript the following passage makes it clear that the McLeas of Lindsaig descend from the McLeas of Achnacree, opposite Lismore. “There were also the McLeas of Achnacree of whom the family of Lindsaig is descended, who were possest of the Lands of Achnacree for a long time” Footnote ...
