Advice For Newbies?

I have 4 generations of Livingston males available (and willing) for testing. (5 if they do not have to be named Livingston but just be a Livingston descendant. I have a grandson and my maiden name is Livingston) Where do I start?

I have been reading the postings here and not being a person familiar with the terms and all I feel like the first time I went to the horse rescue. All the brown horses look alike.....Of course 6 months later I could say.. the morgan, the thoroughbred, the arab etc....and recognized them all by name. (So there is hope for me.)

Will be happy to provide DNA but some are very old or not in the best of shape so I should get on it.

Thanks, Ginger

Hi Ginger,

I emailed you information about the testing. You should get it soon and let me know if you have questions!

Kyle, I hope you're related to me because you're awesome.....If not well... you're still awesome and I'm unlucky.

Thanks, Ginger! Glad I could help. And hey, even if we're not related in the male line, we could certainly be related in other ways! :)

I got my kit ID but can't figure out how to set up an account there to find out how things might be moving along. I am usually good at this.....

Hi Ginger,

Email/PM me your kit number again, and I'll look into it.

Dear Ginger (General comment of use to others joining the project as well!):

The FTDNA system doesn't give you access to any part of the project until you send back a kit. Because in this case the kit hasn't been received back by FTDNA yet, they haven't sent out log-on passwords yet!

Good to know.

I figured they had it by now but forgot to consider a holiday in the middle of the week....(I didn't get it off ).

Me neither! Sometimes their receipt system is not as quick as you would wish. It will arrive, though!
