New marriage records now available at ScotlandsPeople
We are delighted to announce that the following records have been added to the site since our last communication:
Indexes (NOT IMAGES) to modern marriage records from 1934-2006 have now been added to the site. This now gives the range of statutory records as Indexes of Scottish births and deaths (1855-2006) marriages (1855-2006) and images of births(1855-1908), marriages (1855-1933) and deaths (1855-1958).
I also understand that the Roman Catholic Scottish registers are also coming online pretty soon, which should be a good thing for anyone researching a Catholic line!

Scotlands People is definitely a handy resource tool for those with internet access to locate marriage and birth records for Scottish ancestors. The earlier records they have amassed are quite usefull to those many highland Livingstons whose ancestors left Scotland before 1855 for Canada, the U.S and Australia and those after 1855 for those who departed later or for families that remained in both highland and lowland Scotland and want to connect with some ancestral information. It takes a few weeks to receive microfilm reels of the Scottish Parish records from the LDS library.
Canadian Livingstone wrote:so definitely it you dont require photo copies of the microfilmed original parish book records of your ancestors then Scotland People is the way to go for this type of information. Providing there are no transcription errors in the process this is very fast and efficient way of gathering info on your ancestors.
You CAN get images of most records (5 credits) or can order photocopies (expensive) if they're not available. Expensive but very quick all around! Agreed.
