Thanks guys. Not sure who we've got in Christchurch. Reports from there say that there have only been 2 serious injuries, which is great for a city of that size. Several older houses in the area have come down, and lots of older brick walls and chimney have come down. The city has just issued a State of Civil Emergency due to power outages, sewage line breaks and water pipes broken. Airport closed as one runway damaged and there's no rail services either until all tracks are checked.

220 miles south we are all fine - did get woken by it at 4:35 this morning, but that's nothing in the great scheme of things.

Kaye, great to hear from you and I hope if we do have any other clansmen in Christchurch that they are doing well as well. Definitely great to hear that damage and casualties are pretty light for such a big quake!

Keep us posted!

Glad to hear that you are all right Kaye. It is a mercy no one was killed, tho' it now seems that there is a lot of damage to buildings and infrastructure. Everyone in Christchurch and surrounding area will be much in our thoughts in the coming days.

Hi Jill

Yes, you're right. A lot has come to light after the main event. They're still having some large aftershocks and the water and drainage systems have huge repairs to be made. The city is basically closed down until Wednesday while each building is inspected. Thanks for everyone's thoughts and prayers.
