Hi Julie,
It had been a while since I had been in discussions with others on the forum here regarding Donald Livingston and CIrsty Campbell of Kilfinichen Parish, Ross of Mull, Argyll, Scotland. Seeing your message regarding the Hugh Livingston you mentioned I decided to refresh my memory and ended up doing some updating of my original info on Donald Livingston and Cirsty Campbell and his brother Angus Livingston and Margaret Hall (Hale) of Kilfinichen Parish, Ross of Mull, Argyll, Scotland.
It has recently become apparent to me that most the Livingstons who settled Grey County in the 1800 were sons of Donald Livingston and Cirsty Campbell of Kifinichen Parish, Ross of Mull, Mull, Argyllshire except the Hugh Livingston 1815-1883 you mention who married Margaret McQuarrie and settled in Betinck Township, Grey County whom I believe
I took a second look at the all Mull Livingstons that who settled in the 1800's lived in Grey County Ontario in the 1800's that seem to be the children of Donald Livingston and his wife Cirsty Campbell of Kilfinichen Parish, Ross of Mull and having refreshed my memory after all these years and doing some more research and some rethinking I am now suspect that Hugh Livingston 1815-1883 who was married to Margaret McQuarrie and died at age of 68 in Bentinck Township, Grey County is most likely Hugh Livingston born in 1815 Tobermory, Kilninian Parish, Mull baptized Feb 7, 1815 in Kilninian Parish according to the Church of Scotland Parish records. Both Hugh's death record and his gravestone info confirm that he died on February 10, 1883 in Betinck Township, Grey County, Ontario at the age of 68 which strongly seems to confirm a birth around the year 1815. I think it unlikely after giving it some thought that this Hugh Livingston who married Margaret McQuarrie and resided in Betinck Township, Grey County is the Hugh Livingston who was born in 1809 in Kifinichen Parish, Ross of Mull, Mull Argyllshire, Scotland a son of Donald Livingston and his wife Cirsty Campbell.

This may seem surprising also given that Alexander Livingston 1811-1886 born in Kilninian Parish, Mull a son born in 1811 to the Donald Livingston and Cirsty Campbell seems to be buried in the same cemetery in Betinck Township, Grey County, Ontario. One would think somewhat odd and I certainly did but I am fairly certain that Hugh Livingston 1815-1883 buried in that cemetery was not likely the Hugh Livingston according to Church of Scotland records baptized in 1809 and probably born in 1809 to Donald Livingston and Cirsty Campbell of Kilfinichen Parish, Ross of Mull, Scotland. The Hugh Livingston who married Margaret McQuarrie I am fairly convinced was born abt. 1815 in "Tobermory Kilninian Parish, Argyll and baptized February 7, 1815 in Kilninian Parish according to the parish records. And later he and wife and their children resided in Betinck Township, Grey County. If you have prove your descended from a child of of Hugh Livingston 1815-1883 and Margaret McQuarrie of Betinck then I would think it more likely your earlier ancestor was John Livingston of Tobermory, Kilninian Parish, Mull Argyll and his wife Flora "Flory" Mckinnon and not Donald Livingston and Cirsty Campbell of Kilfinichen Parish, Ross of Mull, Argyll. It is also worth noting that Hugh Livingston 1815-1883 and his wife Margaret McQuarrie named their first child "Flory" I assume after Hugh's mother Flora Mckinnon who also was referred to in her son Hugh's 1815 Kilninian Parish baptism record as "Flory" I noticed. I include below the grave of the Hugh Livingston 1815-1883 located in Rocky Sagueen Cemetery, Betinck Township, Grey County, Ontario
