Hi All

I don't mean to muddy the water further, but here is something to ponder. I have been somewhat digging as well.

Now for the sake of reasoning, if there is any reason in geneology research lol. I have two branches I have been trying to follow on the John Livingston of 1803 in Georgetown PEI.

Now I have a document that John Livingston gave all of his right to land in Georgetown to a John Cameron in 1806 and this was witnessed by Allan and Donald Cameron.

Now later I found a deed where Sarah (Sally) livingston transferred a farm to her grandson Joseph who raised his family a short distance from Georgetown and Malcolm who apparently lived in Massacusetts , who was a ship builder. So I wondered..... if John Livingston had connections to a Cameron family from Mull that would match this family. I searched through the Mull Births and came up with this. I found a Sarah Cameron who married a John Livingston in 1808 and she had brothers that matched the document. The email contact on this is a dot ca address so this family had a Canada connection. I sent an email to the address but have not gotten a response.

Ok the other branch I am following is the Sarah (Sally) Livingstone name. This is the way it was spelled in the transcription index at the archives, and in the document. I did a searh in the Mull births and baptisms. I came up with something interesting. Catherine and Allan Campbell had a sister Sarah (Sally) Campbell. I also wonder if this could be the wife of John Livingstone of Georgetown. Catherine's sister Sarah (Sally) on the Mull site had Jim St. Croix as the email contact, so maybe Dr. St. Croix knows where she was living at that time and maybe who she was married to. Two sisters that married John Livingstons.....there certainly were enough to go around.

So two women that I could somewhat make an arguement that might have a connection to the Livingston family.

When my descendent Colin Livingston moved to PEI it makes sense he would not have come here unless the family had a history or family on the island. There was an Alexander Livingston that is in the 1861 PEI census that has a connection to this family, and it is likely he was another son. I feel that the two families were related, but I have no proof other than the fact that Colin moved reasonably close to them around 1861. Colin died on PEI in 1868 at the age of 50. His wife's name was Catherine.

These connections are purely speculation, but maybe someone knows something that can totally eliminate one of the other.

Hi Roberta,

Your ancestors as far I can tell from the Cape Breton genealogy info on the web were at Low Point in Cape Breton County but I also noticed some mention of a Low Point, Inverness County so will try to sort that out so we can avoid any confusion on that one. Appreciate you pointing that out to me. I do find myself having to make sure I have the right County as I not all that familiar with Nova Scotia COunties.

Hi Barry,

There were indeed Camerons living in the parishes in Mull that married Livingstons but wouldnt the Sarah or Sally Cameron circa 1808 in the Mull Records that was married to a Livingston not be the Sarah or Sally Livingston that was living in Georgetown with her husband circa 1803 and probably prior to that. THey were already at Georgetown PEI by 1803 as I understand it while this other couple would still be in Mull as I see it. I dont think it could be the same John Livingston and Sarah or Sally Cameron of 1808 Mull as the timeline would not match. I fwe had a John Livingston and Sarah or Sally Cameron from Mull that settled in PEI after 1808 that would be a different matter then we could consider the possibility that these were one and the same as those from 1808 you found in the Mull Parish records. Sorry I hope this makes sense. Regardless of this I do think it conceivable that Sarah or Sally could have been a Cameron assuming that old John Livingston circa 1803 Georgetown was a native of Mull.

On the topic of Colin Livingstone of Whycocomagh I am absolutely convinced he lived in Whycocomagh in close proximity to Alexander Livingston of Whycocomagh b.1814 and that regardless of whether or not he shows up in the 1860 or 1861Whycocomagh census information he was a resident there at some point before the 1860`s. This is also precisely why there are no easily located records regarding him. I will check the census again for Inverness County circa 1861 and see what Jewel finds out about this Colin or Collen LIvingston of Whycocomagh in the Cape Breton genealogy records she will soon have access to. We found a Collen Livingston in New Brunwick in 1861 and hopefully there is not some confusion with this Collen Livingston. The Cape Breton records did seem to indicate Colin of Whycocomagh unless someone is very confused.

DOnald

Hi Donald and Barry;

Wentworth is the closest land mass in Nova Scotia to Lot 31, P.E.I.

John Livingstone died in Wentworth May 21, 1874 age 92 born Scotland. Information signed by Angus Livingstone.

As long as we keep digging; none of us compare to Custer and his last stand, eh.

Hi All

Interestingly the information on the Mull Genology site is not specifically for those born in Mull. It seems that submitters such as Jim St. Croix has added information to this, but if the place of birth is not known I think it is left empty. Maybe Jim could confirm this. All of the information I posted has people from Canada as the contacts, so they may have been married in Canada and not Scotland.

Hi Barry,

Indeed it is great that there is website dedicated to Mull research and that there is information on Livingstons. I have not contacted any of them but certainly that is good idea. The site recorded both the John Livingston and Catharine Campbell families from Kilninian and Kilmore Parish and stated the source of information as the Kilninian and Kilmore parish register.
